March 16

365 days, 365 pictures, 365 memories, each of which triggers a chain of others.
365 days, a loop around the Sun, an anniversary.
This 365th falls on the best of all anniversaries, the one that Diane and I share of that little ceremony in our apartment in Cupertino 17 years ago today.

She doesn't show up much in my various internet conceits (blogs, photo collections, and so on) because she prefers not to be so publicly displayed. But make no mistake, she is the love of my life.

This photo shows her selecting her 10th anniversary memento in our favorite Sausalito trinket shop, Petri's.

I have had a wonderful time putting together this year's worth of glimpses from my life, courtesy of the miracle of photography and my Dad's meticulous cataloging. While I won't be adding anything more to this blog, I'm not going to delete it, either -- so this calendar of photos should remain available as long as Google hosts it. After a little break, I'm going to start another, very different kind of retrospective, and will update this entry when it's ready to go.

Hi Sherwood,

There are some folks that wind up with That Guy in their lives. You know That Guy. He's the one that wanders in and out of another person's life.

Who was in the group when you went camping as a kid? That Guy. He may not make it into any pictures during a lifetime. But if he does, then That Guy is just barely visible through a doorway at the wedding reception where he caught the garter. He's the guy that visits every once in a while to see how things are. That Guy will notice that you painted the shed dark green over the old dingy grey. He'll know about most of the cars you will ever own and will have ridden in at least half of them that actually ran.

Thanks for inviting us for an intimate view of your life. I'm not sure that I would ever be willing to do such a thing. Being your 'That Guy' must be incredible.

Regards,
Dann

Sorry this is so late. Happy anniversary guys!!

As one of the more frequent visitors to PicShers, I can't help but harbor a bit of melancholy.

However..... since I'm slightly in the know on phase II, that melancholy is paired with anxious anticipation.

Thanks for the memories Dad.

Thanks for the memories.

And it's also nice to get another glimpse of "That Girl." No, not Marlo Thomas. But, as I approach the 38th anniversary of a marriage that ended 25 years ago, I envy you. You're lucky to have picked yourself up, dusted yourself off and then hit one out of the park. As they say in the old country, "good on ya, lad."

Okay. Next adventure, please ...

Thanks, everybody. The next effort probably won't start until the middle of next month, but, whenever it does, it'll be announced over on SherWords.
