Kelsey sees where I work (note the skinny young four-legged guy next to the pool.) This is the "sunken garden" area of DeAnza College.

Images from the Harrington family archives, primarily photos taken by Lynn Harrington (1915 - 1999) and me, his son, Sherwood. Postings to this blog will be photos taken on the date of the post (or on an unspecified date in the month of the post.) "PicShers" is an adjunct blog of "SherWords."

We participate in Take Your Animals to Work Day regularly, though it can cause work stoppage. I trust that Kelsey doesn't try to sit on the keyboard.
I just noticed that the post time for each PiSher is a few mins later than the last (until it rolls over and starts again). Odd.

Wow! Two independent comments on a single entry!
No, Ruth, Kelsey doesn't try to sit on the keyboard, but he has many, many other ways of stopping work, many of which have to do with his uncanny Eeyore impressions.
Nice catch, Adam! That comes about because I prepare these posts in batches for posting on appropriate dates in the future. For the time on those days that they should be posted, I just use whatever time it is when I upload the post (altering pm to am if necessary to keep them showing up in the mornings.) Since I prepare the batches in sequence, each entry will have a slightly later time than the prior one in its batch.
I imagine that the time differential would increase if you had my Internet connection to work with.

On another note, whether you are there at the time or not, you've just made De Anza someplace that I'll visit should I ever have the time and opportunity. Very interesting.

I really hope that I am around if you visit, Dann! That way, I could show off the fantastic planetarium magic for you... and lock you in the damn' dark if we have the bad judgment to bring politics into the conversation.
I've had my nose too close to DeAnza for the past two decades to consistently appreciate what a beautiful campus it is, so thanks for reminding me. Our constituents have always been incredibly gracious and generous in taxing themselves via property taxes and bond measures for us, and that shows in every corner of our campus, both figuratively and literally.
It's a great place to work. It's a great place to study. It's a great place to grow, no matter how old you are. And -- no matter what you may think of the pernicious warping of young minds by academics -- it's a great place to display and assess ideas (even G. W. Bush stopped by here in 2000 to talk to students and faculty. I have been badly disappointed since then by him in large part because when he was here he was sharp, articulate, and thoughtful. Other things have been a little disappointing, too :-))
And it's a great place to walk a dog on a Sunday afternoon.
Sharp, articulate, and thoughtful? Are you sure it wasn't Frank Caliendo?
Or Josh Brolin.
Well you will certainly get an email before I arrive....whenever the heck that happens.
RE: Bushy articularity - I think that the articulate and thoughtful person you experienced is still in there. Which is one of many reasons why I am frustrated over the way he has been turned into a caricature. Policy differences aside, I still believe that Mr. Bush is a serious minded person with all of the qualities you described from your encounter.
I'm disappointed in him as well....probably for different reasons [grin]....but that doesn't change my estimate of his character.
Regards,
Dann
