The attraction of this photo is not the locale as much as it is the sign itself -- no, not what's on the sign, but the sign's very existence. Roadsigns are rare in Ireland (or were when this photo was taken). We chalked it up to culture: why go to all the trouble of pounding a post into the ground for a sign when any reasonable person would just go into the closest pub and ask for directions? And stay for craic. And have an opportunity to think about changing destinations, too, and that's an important something that a piece of painted metal won't give you, now, isn't it?
