Images from the Harrington family archives, primarily photos taken by Lynn Harrington (1915 - 1999) and me, his son, Sherwood. Postings to this blog will be photos taken on the date of the post (or on an unspecified date in the month of the post.) "PicShers" is an adjunct blog of "SherWords."

I'd be jealous of your "neighborhood" park except that, until two years ago, I lived IN a public park, the largest one east of the Mississippi.

Where was that, Mrs. P.?
You could google Adirondack Park, but I'll give you the highlights: six million acres (size of Vermont), entire west coast of Lake Champlain (and then west), 3000 lakes and ponds,2000 miles of hiking trails, "patchwork" of public and private land legislated "forever wild" by NYS in 1882. Not infrequent disputes over what private owners (as I was) can do with their property - lots of rules. Map showing the Blue Line is worth looking at. We were in the northwest area.
Ah! Given where I grew up, I should have thought of the Adirondacks. Adam lived near there for a while in his 20's. When he saw your comment about "not infrequent disputes over what property owners can do" he chuckled wryly and said "Oh, yeah."
